How Vine Age Shapes the Flavour of Wine

At Harbourne Vineyard, one of our greatest advantages is the age of our vines. Planted in 1979, they have had decades to mature and establish deep, strong root systems. These roots reach far into the soil, drawing nutrients that younger vines simply cannot access.

Older vines naturally produce fewer grapes, but the fruit they do produce is more concentrated and expressive. This concentration leads to fuller aromas, more defined flavours, and a character that reflects the land in a genuine way.

It is this maturity that gives our wines depth and personality—qualities that cannot be rushed or manufactured. Every bottle is a small reflection of more than forty years of growth, patience, and care.
